About AVS

Building the future, one village at a time... our children's hope for a brighter future.

"We must become the change we want to see in the world." — Mahatma Gandhi

"We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of missing that drop." — Mother Teresa

"Do not wait for leaders; do it alone, person to person..." — Mother Teresa

Dzorap School Project
The village of Dzorap or Aghtsk is twenty minutes outside of Yerevan. The school renovation project came into existence in 2007, when we visited a friend in Dzorap. We found a warm and friendly community but with an unfortunate deteriorating school comprising of 400 children and teens, K thru 12th.

Observations and Motivations
The conditions found in this school were harsh: broken doors and windows, snow and wind coming into the classrooms in the cold winter months, old radiators without fuel, doors broken and deteriorating walls, ceilings and floors, unsanitary bathrooms and broken stairs transporting kids to the classrooms upstairs... tables and chairs almost non-functional.  But in contrast we were motivated by 400 kids eager to learn, teachers eager to teach, a community motivated to help contribute their time and effort to build. (See our before-and-after photos of the school.)

The value of education
The Value of Education cannot be overstressed.  The formative effect on the mind, character or physical ability of a child cannot be overstressed. Society transmits its cultural heritage, traditions, values  & skills, from one generation to the next. To ensure the future of our country we should invest in the education of our children.

The future depends on us
The innovation that will be created through our educated generation of young Armenians will change Armenia’s future- Education gives us to tools and the know-how to innovate and create jobs, harvesting available resources for prosperity and growth of our nation. This is how we can help our ancestral land. We owe our people that have survived for generations thru wars, genocide and hardship, at least this much, so that they will be able to advance and help themselves, in return.

How?
Having a pool of young educated intellectuals and innovators attracts and increases outside investments that produce goods and services both internally and externally.  People are our greatest assets and most valuable resources; a country cannot survive economically and sustain its growth without its pool of individuals; building, contributing, and improving its infrastructure.

Children are our future
To understand and help build our homeland, we must realize the importance of education in the process of designing the future of Armenia. Our aim is to reach schools in villages and cities, where typically many organizations cannot assist because of limited resources and high administration costs.  Since we work directly with the communities and their leaders, one hundred percent of the contributed funds are used for the sole purpose of school renovation projects.
New and green methods such as solar panels to battle the harsh winters, new doors & windows, walls and floors, bathrooms & stairs, libraries and computer-rooms, commitment to the arts and gymnasiums to help develop mind, body and spirit.

Our beautiful country, land, and nation is collection of villages, by educating one village at a time, we are building a much stronger, and educated nation in the future, contributing to society internally and to the world at large.
